About Us

Birth Beginnings Doula Volunteer Services (BBDVS) is a federal 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Apex, NC. We are a volunteer-run doula service operating in the Triangle Region and surrounding communities. The majority of our doulas are students currently enrolled in an undergraduate, masters, or professional program. All of our volunteers have received their birth doula and postpartum doula certifications, along with their lactation coach training.
Our Mission
The mission of BBDVS is to provide high-quality and accessible doula care to the Triangle Region and surrounding communities, free of charge. Our services are available to all who need them, regardless of insurance status. In particular, we strive to support those who are eligible for programs such as presumptive Medicaid, Medicaid, and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.

Our Pledge
BBDVS believes that no woman should be denied the right to supportive care. We pledge to support mothers through all aspects of their pregnancy with exceptional physical and emotional support. Additionally, BBDVS will never discriminate based on race, class, religion, or nationality.
